PBAT is produced through melt and polycondensation after direct esterification of adipic acid (AA), terephthalic acid (PTA) and 1,4 butanediol (BDO) under the action of a catalyst. PBAT not only has good ductility, elongation at break, heat resistance and impact resistance, but also has excellent biodegradability, it is now widely used in plastic packaging films, agricultural mulching films and other film materials.
In China, the production of PBAT is currently in a stage of rapid development. In 2014, the output of PBAT resin was 17,800 tons, and it increased to 39,200 tons in 2019. The compound growth rate from 2014 to 2019 was 17.10%.
In 2011, China’s PBAT resin consumption was 11,200 tons, and it increased to 38,800 tons in 2019. The compound growth rate from 2011 to 2019 was 16.80%. With the promotion of environmental protection requirements and policies, consumption is expected to grow rapidly.
